I also came across this interesting photo in a New York Times blog.
A confused bride and groom shake off some dust after the earthquake.
When the earthquake struck, five couples were having their wedding photographs taken at this deserted French Missionary Church in Pengzhou in southwestern Sichuan. No one was injured.
The photographer, Wang Qiang, had already taken one round of photos and was waiting for the couples to change outfits when the disaster struck. As a result, he has some of the best before and after photos to emerge from the Sichuan earthquake.
Most of the church collapsed in 10 seconds, said Wang.
Although the couples are probably disappointed, I honestly think it’s amazing that their photos capture such an important moment in Sichuanese (and Chinese) history. These will definitely be something to show the grandkids. The cracked stone almost goes well with the heavily forested area of southwestern Sichuan. And although the church is destroyed, I think it still makes a romantic backdrop for wedding photos.
